Legal Officer

The Legal Officer of the Rwanda Stock Exchange will provide comprehensive legal support to the Exchange, ensuring compliance with securities laws, regulations, and internal policies. This role is critical in managing legal risks, advising on regulatory matters, and supporting the exchange's operations and governance. Detailed job specifications include:
Description of Duties
The Legal Officer will undertake the following duties:
To Monitor and interpret relevant securities laws, regulations, and exchange rules, ensuring compliance across all operations.
To Prepare and submit necessary filings and reports to regulatory authorities.
To Provide legal advice to management and departments on issues related to compliance and corporate governance.
To Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, agreements, and memoranda of understanding with market participants, vendors, and other stakeholders
To Manage and resolve disputes involving the Exchange, including liaising with external legal counsel when necessary.
To Assist in creating and updating internal policies and procedures to ensure compliance with applicable laws and best practices.
To Support the governance framework of the Exchange, including drafting board resolutions and maintaining corporate records.
To perform other duties as may be assigned by the Chief Executive Officer.
Qualifications and Experience
A Masters degree in Law.
Minimum 5 years work experience in a legal role, preferably within a financial services or regulatory environment.
Strong understanding of securities laws, market regulations, and corporate governance practices would be an added advantage.
Proven experience in contract management and legal compliance.
High level of integrity and professionalism, with a commitment to ethical standards.
